Every week I try to make a batch of this anti-inflammatory, bloat-reducing, and immune-boosting elixir. This concoction takes a little getting used to (wow the ginger!!), but now it is something I crave every day. So, grab your juicer, gather your ingredients, and collect your favorite glass bottles because we will make at least a dozen of these tonics.
By the way, I'm trying something new and some of the links in this post are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you purchase something through them – at no additional cost to you. Thanks for the support!
Nutritional Benefits:
Turmeric: is renowned for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It contains curcumin, which has been studied for its numerous health benefits such as improved brain function, reduced risk of heart disease, and potential anti-cancer properties.
Ginger: a powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory effects. It aids in digestion, reduces nausea, and may help in lowering blood sugar levels, making it an excellent addition to your daily diet.
Lemon: rich in vitamin C, which boosts the immune system, aids in weight loss, improves skin quality and supports heart health. The citric acid in lemons also helps in digestion.
Chia Seeds: a superfood loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, protein, and various minerals. They promote satiety, aid in weight loss, and support heart health and digestion.
Honey: Nutritional Benefits: a natural sweetener that contains antioxidants and has anti-bacterial properties. It serves as a healthier alternative to refined sugar.
Ingredients:
turmeric, about 1/2 pound of fresh turmeric root
ginger, about 1 pound
lemons, juice of 10 lemons
chia seeds, 1/2 teaspoon of chia seeds per juice
honey, 1 good squirt of honey per juice
water
Instructions:
Prepare the Turmeric and Ginger: Peel the best you can—I don't go crazy otherwise I would never do it! Then cut them into 1" chunks and place them in a bowl.
Prepare the Lemons: Peel the lemon rinds off. I just cut off the top and bottom to make it into a cylinder, then simply cut off the rind working around. Then cut the lemon in half and place it into a bowl separate from the turmeric/ginger.
Juice the Turmeric, Ginger, and Lemon: I always start with the turmeric and end with the lemon. This helps get rid of the orange residue from the turmeric. Place the lemon juice into its own mason jar and the turmeric/ginger juice into another mason jar.
Assemble the Juice: Pour in equal parts lemon juice + ginger/turmeric combination (1:1 ratio). This usually looks like 1/2 full when pouring into 10oz glassware.
Add the Final Touches: Put 1/2 tsp of chia seeds and one good squeeze of honey into each glass. Fill the remaining glass with water, then give a really good shake to make sure the chia seeds and honey do not settle at the bottom.
This is the juicer that I use. I have had it for 8+ years and it works great!
This is the glassware I use—makes it feels special!
